Chelsea Handler + VMAs = AMAZING

MTV officially announced last week that this year's Video Music Awards - literally the best award show there is - will take place in LA on September 12th.  It's already been confirmed that Britney isn't going and it's a given that Gaga will win big, so I'd started to lose interest in this year's ceremony, until it was announced that US comedian Chelsea Handler would be the evening's host.

Handler is, besides Kathy Griffin, the funniest American female comedian around.  Her own late night comedy sketch/chat show 'Chelsea Lately' on E! is infamous for ripping it out of celebrities, so MTV's decision to have Handler present their celebrity heavy awards show is controversial none the least.  However, it's exactly what both MTV and Handler need; they need someone funny and fresh to inject some life in to a show that has been getting by on it's reputation alone for several years now and Chelsea needs a big break like this to catapult her in to the American mainstream.

We'll see what happen on September 12th, but I'm expecting big things.
