The video for Kelis' new single '4th of July' just premièred on YouTube channel Vevo. Despite in many aesthetic ways being a perfect fit for the song, for what is perhaps the best track on her amazing new album 'Fleshtone' the video looks like the budget was no more than about $100 - most of which seems to have been spent on the dress. It's a shame that more money hasn't been invested in to the 'Fleshtone' project by Kelis' record company - the material is clearly worthy of it and will easily end up being one of this year's strongest albums. As time goes on it seems clear that Kelis herself is carving an imprint in the music industry as this generations Grace Jones. She has genuine talent and originality that many other pop stars today have been unable to match. Enjoy the video below!
